JOB DESCRIPTION – EDUCATION & LEARNING MANAGER

                                              

Location: Butanuka Community Center in Mpanda or Bujumbura

Duration: 2 years (including 6 months’ trial period).

 

About Dreaming for Change and Position overview

Dreaming for Change (D4C) is a family-centered community organization advancing education, health, agriculture, and women’s empowerment in rural Burundi. Our education programs include Butanuka Community Academy, the home-based ECD shelters, Girls rising for change, and the community library & American shelf. We also support teacher development through local and international partnerships, alongside youth learning and community education initiatives.

The Education & Learning Manager coordinates and oversees the daily management, quality, and growth of D4C’s education programs. The Manager ensures that:

·        Students receive high-quality, child-centered learning;

·        Teachers are supported, coached, and professionally developed;

·        Education activities, from preschool to primary to youth learning, run smoothly;

·        Monitoring, reporting, and curriculum systems are strengthened;

·        Partnerships with schools, universities, and learning institutions are well-managed.

This is a hands-on management role both operational and supportive, requiring strong pedagogical knowledge, leadership ability, and a passion for child development and community learning.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  •  Coordinate daily operations of all education programs, including preschool, primary school, ECD, girls' education, and community learning initiatives.
  • Supervise and support teaching teams, provide classroom coaching, and help plan continuous professional development activities with local and international partners.
  • Oversee curriculum delivery, encourage child-centered and play-based learning, and strengthen assessment and learning progress monitoring.
  • Promote safe, inclusive, and positive learning environments across all D4C education sites.
  • Maintain and nurture partnerships with schools, universities, and learning institutions; represent D4C in education-related engagements when delegated.
  • Work with the MEL team to track learning outcomes, enrollment, attendance, and program achievements; support preparation of education reports and documentation.
  • Contribute to planning, budgeting, teacher recruitment, and ensuring all learning spaces are well-equipped and well-managed.

Education / Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Early Childhood Development, Pedagogy, Educational Leadership, or related field (Master’s is an asset).
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in school leadership, teacher supervision, or education program coordination.
  • Strong understanding of early childhood and primary curriculum, teaching methodologies, and learning assessment.
  • Experience coaching teachers or managing education teams.
  • Good communication skills in French and English.
  • Ability to manage multiple programs, meet deadlines, and write clear education reports.
  • Experience working with partners, schools, donors, or academic institutions is an advantage.
